A security guard died after he was struck down by a Route 42 (Timehri) minibus on the Little Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara, last evening.
Dead is 50-year-old Mahadaiw Hemraj of Lot 1 Cinema Street, Diamond.
An eyewitness to the accident said that at about 6:30 pm yesterday, minibus BKK 7175 was heading west when it struck down Hemraj who was on his bicycle in the same lane.
The eyewitness further stated that Hemraj was taken by the bus driver and another passenger to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the minibus is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
Hemraj, who has no children and was not married, was described as a jovial person who knew how to make everyone feel happy.
