Mayor’s Cup final set for this evening

The semi-finals and final of Mayor Hamilton Green’s 78th birth anniversary inter-ward knockout football tournament is set to conclude this evening at the Den Amstel Ground.

Tournament coordinator Lennox Arthur says that the quarterfinals, semi-finals and final will contested on the same night.

In the quarter-finals Stewartville will come up against Alberttown, Goed Fortuin tackles Newtown Kitty; Uitvlugt engages Grove and hosts Den Amstel will oppose Kingston. Kick of time is 19:00 hrs.

An exhibition showdown between Sara Lodge and Pouderoyen at 18:00 hrs will open the schedule of events with a second scheduled exhibition game of the evening to be contested between Crane and Police at 22:00 hrs preceding the tournament’s final at 23:00hrs.

Semifinal action will commence at 21:00hrs with the winner of the Stewartville/Alberttown encounter tackling the victor of the Uitvlugt/Grove matchup while the resulting Goed Fortuin/Newtown Kitty and Den Amstel/Kingston winners will contest the other semifinal, with ensuing semifinal winners battling for glory in the final.
