Durant leads OKC past Rockets

(The Sports Xchange) – – – – -Kevin Durant scored 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in leading Oklahoma City to a convincing 117-86 points  victory over the Houston Rockets.

It was the second game the Thunder (25-5) have won without injured guard Russell Westbrook, out with a knee ailment.

Jeremy Lamb came off the bench to score 22 points.

Houston (21-12) center Dwight Howard was held to nine points and nine rebounds and guard James Harden scored just eight points on 2-for-9 shooting.

Spurs 112, Kings 104

 

Manu Ginobili had a season-high 28 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a win over the Sacramento Kings.

Ginobili, who had 10 crucial fourth-quarter points, was 9-for-16 from the field and hit four 3-pointers for San Antonio (24-7).

Center DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 29 points and 14 rebounds, and, along with newly acquired guard Rudy Gay and point guard Isaiah Thomas, combined for 80 of the Kings’ 104 points.

Warriors 108, Cavaliers 104 (Overtime)

 

Stephen Curry came within a whisker of his second consecutive triple-double with 29 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists in the Golden State Warriors’ overtime victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Curry recorded a triple-double against Phoenix on Friday and his follow-up effort gave the Warriors (19-13) a fifth straight win.

The Cavs (10-20) have now lost five in a row despite 27 points from Kyrie Irving who buried a clutch 3-pointer with 9.5 seconds left tin regulation that sent the game to OT.

76ers 111, Lakers 104

 

Thaddeus Young led the way with 25 points and the Philadelphia 76ers ended a 13-game skid on the road, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Sixers (9-21) also handed the Lakers (13-18) a season-high fifth straight defeat as Evan Turner scored 22 points and center Spencer Hawes added 19 points and eight rebounds.

Nick Young led the Lakers with 26 points but the team was again without center Pau Gasol, who missed his second consecutive game with an upper respiratory infection.

Magic 109, Hawks 102

 

Arron Afflalo had 20 points and all five Orlando Magic starters reached double figures in scoring as the Magic outlasted the Atlanta Hawks.

Nik Vucevic contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds as Orlando (10-20) won consecutive games for the first time in more than a month.

Atlanta (17-14), playing without All-Star center Al Horford, who is out for the season with a pectoral muscle pull, got 22 points and eight assists from guard Jeff Teague and 18 points from backcourt mate Lou Williams.
