At about 1800h yesterday, the police say that Vivianne Fortune, two years, of Tabatinga, Lethem, was walking along the roadway at Tabatinga in the company of her mother when she is reported to have pulled away from her mother and run into the path of a motor pick-up vehicle.
She was struck down and was rushed to the Lethem Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with investigations.
