Golden Jaguars draw with B/dos 2-2

The Golden Jaguars search for their first victory in over 24 months will continue as they drew 2-2 with Caribbean Football Union (CFU) rivals Barbados on Sunday night in Barbados in the opener of the countries two-match international series at the Barbados National Stadium.

The match which was the first outing of Trinidadian Jamaal Shabazz in his third stint, saw the local outfit surrender a 2-0 lead in the opening half. Initially Alpha United’s Sheldon Holder and Canadian based Emery Welshman had given Guyana the early impetus with respective goals.

However, according to reports from the Land of the Flying Fish, the hosts would storm back to level the score with two goals in under five minutes to go into the half 2-2. The score line would eventually remain unchanged throughout the second stanza.

The reports initially said Guyana’s starting XI consisted of Derrick Carter (goalkeeper), Kris Camacho (defender), Dwain Jacobs (defender), Jamaal Smith (defender), Colin Nelson (defender), Captain Christopher Nurse (midfielder), Eusi Phillips (midfielder), Vurlon Mills (midfielder) and Trayon Bobb (midfielder), Sheldon Holder (forward) and Emery Welshman (forward).

The date for the return leg is to be announced by the Guyana Football Federation’s Normalization Committee.
