Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum yesterday afternoon confirmed the arrest, which he said was made at a house at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Investigators were up to late yesterday afternoon searching the premises.

Simon, 24, of Romulus Street, Agricola, EBD, was shot to the head on November 10, 2015. He died the following day while receiving medical attention at the George-town Public Hospital.

His mother, Nicola Simon, had told Stabroek News that the shooting occurred after he had just left his Agricola home to check on his grandmother. She and other family members were liming on Norton Street when they witnessed the man being shot as he had approached Amsterdam’s fence on his bicycle. Simon subsequently succumbed in hospital and Amsterdam’s home was burnt after.
