“It is incumbent upon us to do a proper audit…to address or allay fears about improper allocations,” the minister told Stabroek News on Saturday. Persons have oftentimes complained that although they have applied for a house lot for years, they were not allocated any while others were allocated two or more. “If there are credible allegations they will have to be investigated,” Bulkan said while adding that they are committed to the highest level of integrity and transparency.

In terms of payments as there have been concerns raised that some persons have access to prime lands for low prices while others in less prime areas have to pay higher prices, Bulkan said that they are obliged to take a second look.

He added that they will have to do an in-depth examination but noted that it is early days yet and he as well as the junior minister are expected to meet staff of the ministry today.
