Dear Editor,
I don’t trust them, I don’t like them and I couldn’t care less about them, but you must give credit where and when credit’s due.
Dear Editor,
At last the Leader of the PNCR has finally plucked up the courage to respond to one of my letters using his name (‘Political objective was to serve notice to President Jagdeo and PPP that PNCR was aware of their plans’ SN, January 12).
Dear Editor,
Firstly, I thank Claude Raphael for his forthright views on the candidates for the upcoming elections as it is not often that people would publicly provide such candid views, particularly when he may be close ‘buddies’ with them all (‘Bissoondyal Singh is the best person to succeed Chetram Singh as President of the Guyana Cricket Board’ SN, January 10).
Dear Editor,
Someone asked, ‘What’s in a name?’ A name can be misleading sometimes.
Dear Editor,
The designation of 2011 as the Year of People of African Descent is a significant reminder of both the tremendous contributions of Africans to world civilization and the challenges African communities across the world continue to face in the socio-economic political and cultural spheres.
Dear Editor,
I refer to SN story of January 12, ‘Secret balloting poses danger – Jagdeo,’ where it was reported, “President Bharrat Jagdeo on Monday warned that using a secret balloting process to decide on the PPP’s next presidential candidate could be dangerous as candidate hopefuls could promise persons things in order to get their votes.”
Dear Editor,
Well, well, well, Forbes Burnham and the Jagans would be immensely proud.
Dear Editor,
In spite of him being unfairly caricaturized as a demolition man, I have to admire Minister Robeson Benn’s proceeding in his conviction of doing the right things.
Dear Editor,
This campaign excites me, but I should declare my bias up front; that is, I am a supporter of Dr Harding to become the PNCR presidential candidate.
Dear Editor,
With reference to the letter ‘The Leader of the Opposition does not have a special retirement package,’ (SN, January 11) by B Beniprashad Rayman, PNCR Executive Member, please permit me to put this ostensibly contentious issue in proper perspective.
Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter from one Harry Gill, under the caption, ‘Corbin must produce all evidence to save whatever credibility he has left,’ printed in the January 11, issue of Kaieteur News.
Dear Editor,
What are the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam really doing with the taxes of the town?
Dear Editor,
I was not surprised that President Jagdeo is not interested in another term in office (‘Jagdeo denies interest in extending term’ SN, January 11).
Dear Editor,
The race for the presidency of the Guyana Cricket Board is interestingly poised at the moment, and the three serious contenders are continuing to run a clean race – no doubt each of them has the conviction he will claim an overwhelming and undisputed victory at the polls on January, 30, 2011.
Owing to a technical fault we could not access emails for many hours yesterday, and were also unable to retrieve them subsequently.
Dear Editor,
I recall at a Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Pegasus Hotel a few short years ago, President Jagdeo addressing the gathering and the Guyanese public, regaled us all about how well the sugar industry was doing.
Dear Editor,
For over a year now the Guyana Police Force has unashamedly ignored the residents of Laing Avenue who continue to live at the mercy of a bicycle, gun-slinging gang in one section of the area.
Dear Editor,
I refer to Minister Manzoor Nadir’s letter ‘Greenidge was not fired by Caricom; his contract came to an end’ (SN, January 7, 2011).
Dear Editor,
There are those who genuinely believe that the President’s initiative on the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) was truly based on widespread national consultations.
Dear Editor,
Reference is made to Emile Mervin’s letter ‘In Guyana politics never rule anything in or out’ (SN, January 9).
