President extends Eid-ul-Adha greetings

President Bharrat Jagdeo has extended greetings to the Muslim community as it celebrates the festival of Eid-ul-Adha.

In a statement the president said “As we close the year 2006, the festival of Eid-ul-Adha brings a promise of renewal and hope in our history, since the rituals will be undertaken by our Muslim brothers and sisters during the traditional New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. This, no doubt, reflects the unity, tolerance, respect and cooperation by my government and all our peoples”.

He reminded that “Eid-ul-Adha and the teaching of Islam remind us of love, friendship, patience and acts of charity. Let this auspicious day serve as a blessing to our nation as we continue to strive for racial harmony, peace and prosperity.”
