Man accused of theft remanded

Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan remanded to prison a man accused of robbery when he yesterday appeared to answer to the charge at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

According to the facts of the case Errol Douglas, 27, of Lot 6 A Water Street, Georgetown, on January 10, at Georgetown, robbed Sheliza Azim of one gold chain, one gold band and one Razr cellular phone all to the total value of $115,000.

Douglas pleaded not guilty to the charge. He told the court that he was not around at the time of the incident and that a man walked up to him and made the allegation. Douglas said he is a hard-working man who sells for his living and that he has three young children to provide for. He was ordered to appear at Court 2 on February 8.
