Community-based rehabilitation centre gets govt subvention

The Government of Guyana, in keeping with its promise to the Queenstown Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) group, gave the organization a $500,000 subvention for this year.

Region Two Chairman Alli Baksh, who presented a cheque for the amount to member of the CBR programme, Donna Ragnauth said the money will be used to operate the $4.5 million centre on a daily basis and provide services to all disabled persons across the region.

Baksh told the small gathering that President Bharrat Jagdeo, while commissioning the centre last year had promised to give the members of the CBR programme a yearly subvention to operate the centre so that disabled persons could benefit from its services.

Present at the handing over ceremony in the Regional Chairman’s office were Alliance For Change councillor Francis Darchiville, PPP/C councillor Pooran Persaud, Ragnauth and three other members of the CBR programme Paulette Dainty, Lloyd Griffith and Carol Weithey.
