Islamic body donates over $300M in medical supplies to public institutions

The Guyana Islamic Relief Organisa-tion (GIRO) recently handed over another container of medical supplies worth in excess of $300M to public institutions, particularly the Georgetown Public Hospital, the organization said in a press release.

Receiving the supplies on behalf of this hospital was Coordinator of Material Management, Robbie Rambarran who expressed appreciation for the continuous support which enhances the care of patients and reduces budgetary expenditures. Meanwhile, Byro Persaud, Manager of Material Management of the Government Pharmacy Bond, Kingston, who also received a container of medical supplies, thanked the donor and the organizations that helped to get the container to Guyana. GIRO’s Chief Executive Officer Shazaad Khan was accompanied by members of the Board of Directors at the handing over ceremony. He said that the shipment is only the first for this year and more are scheduled.

This container of medical supplies was made possible through representations from GIRO to IRFAN-Canada which then made representation to Health Partners Inter-national.

GIRO, Khan added, has been making such donations for almost ten years consecutively.
