Mr Corbin lacks what it takes to lead the PNC

Dear Editor,

In his letter captioned “If Alexander and Norton are the PNC’s next leaders, their message and mission must change now” (KN 07.02.28) Mr Emile Mervin mentioned that Mr Robert Corbin lacks what it takes to lead the PNC at this time. I agree with this.

I know a lot of PNC supporters here in Linden who did not vote or who voted for the AFC because of Robert Corbin. And even some of them who voted for the PNC at the last elections have lost all faith in him saying that he sold out to President Jagdeo. I am no politician but compared to 1997 and 2001 the PNC campaign in 2006 was very, very poor.

I noticed in the papers some time ago that Mr Corbin said that he will step down at the next PNC congress and that he will not be the PNC candidate at the next elections. This is good but my advice to Mr Corbin would be not to stay around much longer. Mr Corbin it is time for you to go since there is nothing you can do to redeem yourself to the extent that you will not be a major liability to the PNC.

I believe that the PNC needs someone like Aubrey Norton or Basil Williams. It is time these gentlemen and other executive members like Alexander, Hamilton, Volda Lawrence, James Mc Allister, Jerome Khan, Lorri Alexander, Deryck Bernard and Deborah Backer say something to PNC supporters. Are you going to wait until Corbin rides the PNC into the dust?

Yours faithfully,

Ivan David
