Businessman’s car stolen while he slept in makeshift home

A De Kinderen businessman who went to bed leaving his car parked in his front yard said someone broke into his makeshift home, stole his keys and drove away his vehicle while he was sleeping.

Jethro Warner, manufacturer of Jet Noni Juice reported the incident to police at Leonora, West Coast Demerara yesterday after he woke up and realized what had happened. He said whoever broke into his home could have easily done so unknown to him or his family.

“We are currently living in a makeshift home in our yard because our home is under repairs and to be honest it is not secured. They were able to remove the keys from a stand near my bed,” Warner stated.

He said the gold coloured Toyota Sprinter AT 110 PJJ 527 was secured in the front yard around 10:30 pm and he went to bed. Around midnight he recalled hearing a sound but later dismissed it as a passing animal and went back to bed. He believes the car was stolen sometime between midnight and 5 am yesterday.

Since he started renovations, Warner said, there have been indications about the likelihood of a theft at his Lot 56 De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara home. He said two weeks ago traces of blood were found in the front yard which suggested to him that someone had entered the premises and was injured. According to him, the blood indicated a ‘nail stick’. A few days ago he said a door was found opened on the renovated house where cement among other building materials is being stored.

The businessman explained that in order to get inside the makeshift home he and his family of seven are currently living in, someone just have to jump the window.

Warner said he is hoping someone reading the newspaper would have seen his car and would make contact with him or the nearest police station. He said his car has a big scratch on the driver’s door and sunburn on the bonnet. Additionally, he said there are few Toyota sprinters that are gold coloured since he had to spray his.
