Pedestrian killed in two-vehicle collision

Two vehicles collided at Grove on Thursday night killing a pedestrian and injuring two others who are now patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Dead is Lynette Moore, 60, of Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. According to a police press release, investigations revealed that Safraz Ali was driving his car HB 1303 on the eastern side of the road proceeding south while Gowkarran Permanand was driving his vehicle PGG 9309 in the opposite direction.

Police said when the two vehicles collided, Ali lost control and hit Moore, Linda Alfred and Saleeta Joseph who were all walking along the road.

All three were taken to the hospital but Moore subsequently died and the others were admitted.

Both drivers are in police custody as police continue investigations.
