Persaud, Tiwari maintain lead

The National Closed chess championships will resume today at the Ocean Spray Hotel with two rounds of play each in the senior and junior divisions.

After 12 rounds Berbician Kriskal Persaud and Errol Tiwari are still in the lead with 10-and-a-half points each.

In second position despite his upset by Irshad Mohammed in the last round is Ronuel Greenidge on eight-and-a-half points.

Learie Webster with seven points, Loris Nathoo on six-and-a-half points, David Khan on five, Andre Griffith on four-and-a-half points, Shiv Nandalall on four and Irshad Mohamed on three points follow.

In the Junior Category, Ronald Roberts with 11 points is in sole possession of the lead with Taffin Khan in second position with 10 points.

They are followed by Saeed Ali on seven, Sham Khan, five, Kana Khan on four-and-a-half points, Cecil Cox on four and Sheriffa Ali on three-and-a-half points and Scion Taitt on three points.
