No agreement on the Chancellor seems likely

Dear Editor,

I am sorely distressed by our President’s insistent and persistent efforts to have Mr Carl Singh appointed Chancellor of the judiciary knowing full well that the Opposition Leader well never agree to Mr. Singh’s appointment.

Our President’s behaviour is eerily similar to that of the Pakistani Dictator Pervez Musharraf who has appointed his own judges to the Supreme Court there.

Mr. Editor, the solution to our problem is for the post of Chancellor to be advertised for, both locally and abroad, when I am sure the most experienced and qualified applicant can then be easily agreed upon.

In the meantime I pray that Mr Ian Chang does not fall ill or resign.

How nice and simple it would be if Mr Carl Singh would decline his nomination for the post of Chancellor.

Yours faithfully,

R J Eleazar
