The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) said “the crescent for Zul Hijjah was not sighted” on Monday and for the sake of maintaining unity, the “sacred month” began on Tuesday.
In a press release the CIOG said it is currently engaging organisations in the Caribbean to arrive at an agreement for regional moon sighting.
It also said Eid-ul-Adha (Qurbani) will be observed on Thursday, December 20th.
