So there is a matter to speak about

Dear Editor,

Kellawan Lall’s letter captioned “Stabroek News has been vilifying me’ (07.12.19) could be labelled pathetic or amusing, depending on which mood one is in. It would have been better for him to stay quiet! He says he intends to make a public statement on the matter “at the appropriate time”…We are now in the ‘inappropriate time’ zone, so I suppose we will have to wait till the hands of the clock swing right back around to ‘the appropriate time’.

Oh so there is ‘a matter’ to speak about. He has been silent so long that one was beginning to wonder if the matter had existed in the imagination…Thanks for clarifying, Minister. And thanks for reiterating that all parties concerned do not want the matter to go further…for after all, the incompetent authorities, sorry, I mean “the competent authorities are currently determining” whether he used his firearm “in an appropriate manner”.

The minister goes on to say “On that matter I say no more”…So there are matters!! So what’s the matter with the authorities that we, the Guyanese populace cannot hear the end of the matter.I would suggest that the minister garner whatever fragments of dignity he may have left and resign. And please, authorities, at least grant us the satisfaction of a mock investigation and trial then sweep it under the proverbial carpet, for after all, as one calypsonian puts it:” Is yuh frien’, is yuh frien’,is yuh frien’.

Yours faithfully,
