Police offer $30M reward for Rawlins

Police yesterday offered a $30 million reward for the capture of Rondell Rawlins called ‘Fineman’ of Buxton, East Coast Demerara and Agricola, East Bank Demerara.

This comes a day after a large band of gunmen slaughtered 11 persons, including five children at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara. Hours before this massacre, gunmen in a car attacked Police Headquarters, Eve Leary injuring two policemen who were manning the western gate. It is believed that Rawlins upped the ante against the security forces following the alleged abduction of his heavily pregnant girlfriend. A man purporting to be Rawlins had called the police on Wednesday warning that if the woman did not return, he would create mayhem.

According to a police statement issued yesterday, Rawlins is wanted by the police for a series of murders and robberies under arms.

Police said that the $30 million reward is being offered for information that may lead to the wanted man’s arrest.

Anyone with such information is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 226-6978, 225-8196, 226-1326, 225-2227, 225-3650, 225-7625 or 911 or the nearest police station.
