GNRA stages paintball shoot

The Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) Hand-gun section launched its 2008 programme with a Practice Paintball Shooting competition last Sunday at the Guyana Scouts Association ground, Woolford Avenue.

Thirteen teams took part in the competition and the organizers are looking forward to staging a major event on March 2, at the same venue.

The teams included Ruff-neck, Rampage, Swat, Metal Gear, Strike Force, Wolf Pack, Mohawks, Trackers, Rangers, Venom, and Seals.

Dale Hing, captain of the Handgun section said that the response to Sunday’s shoot was overwhelming with over 50 persons participating. He disclosed that Digicel Guyana provided T-shirts for the competitors.

Paintball is a combination of the games “tag” and “hide & seek,” but is much more challenging and sophisticated. It is played by groups of players who are divided into two teams to play with the main challenge being to “capture the flag”.

The Hand shooters also plan to run off .22 Practical Pistol and 9MM Precision shooting competitions during the 2008 season.
