Guyanese in Toronto to meet next Sunday to mourn

Dear Editor,

The Canada-Guyana Forum is hosting a gathering to bring all Guyanese together in Toronto to mourn the most recent outbreak of violence, the senseless slaughter of the eleven women, men and children, at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

We seek your support to bring this to the attention of your readers.

We are horrified by this brutal act and we are inviting those in Toronto to join with us in sharing the grief of the Lusignan and indeed, the entire Guyanese community back in the homeland, and to reflect and share conversation on ways forward for the country at this time.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008, from 2.45 pm to 6.00 pm at the St John the Divine Anglican Church Hall, 885 Scarborough Golf Club Road, Scarborough, Ontario.

Yours faithfully,

Rampersaud Tiwari, Sister Hazel Campayne, Alissa Trotz, Diana Abraham, Jai Parsram, Oma Sewhdat and Harry Hergash.
