Floodlights XI wins final warm-up game

Floodlights XI easily defeated Trophy Stall XI by six wickets in their final practice game at the Everest Cricket Club ground Friday night before departing these shores.

Winning the toss and inviting their opponents to take first strike, Floodlights XI captain Reeaz Hussein must have regretted making such a decision after seeing his opponents rattle up 207-4 from their 25 overs.

Leading the batting for the Trophy Stall XI was proprietor and match sponsor Ramesh Sunich with an attractive 54 that was decorated with five fours and two sixes. He received support from Richard Persaud who made 49 (4x4s; 2×6) as Ramchand Ragbeer took three wickets for Floodlights XI.

In reply, the victors who will be representing Guyana in the annual Florida Cup that is being held in Florida, USA, reached 209-4 from 19.1 overs.

Leading the way with the bat was softball icon Ricky Deonarine with an attractive 75 (5x6s; 4x4s) and Patrick Khan 55 (4x4s; 3x6s) as Vicky Ramsaywack took 3-38 from five overs.

At the simple presentation ceremony that followed, Deonarine (Man-of-the-Match), Khan(Best Batsman), Ragbeer(Best Bowler) and Pitamber Maharaj (Best Fielder) all received trophies for their individual performances on the winning team.

Sunich (Best Batsman) also received a trophy for his sterling contribution with the bat while Ramsaywack (Best Bowler) and Rajesh Singh (Best Fielder) were also recipients of trophies for the Trophy Stall XI.
