Floodlights XI triumphs over Trophy Stall

The Guyana Floodlights XI defeated their Trophy Stall counterparts by 8 runs in a 25 overs  exhibition softball game at the Everest Cricket Club ground last Friday night.

Devi Paul presents the winner’s trophy to captain of the Floodlights XI Mohan Boodraj as other team members look on.Winning the toss and opting to take first strike, Floodlights XI made 207-8 from their 25 overs on the back of veteran Ricky Deonarine 76 (6x6s, 4x4s) and Deryck Ramotaur’s 40 (3x6s). Former national wicketkeeper Sheik Mohammed offered good support with 30 (2×4, 1x6s) against the bowling of Fidel Singh (2-25) and Reaz Hussein (2-36).

In reply, Trophy Stall XI were held to 199 from their allotted overs with Mohan Sukhoo 55(3x4s, 3x6s) and Richard Persaud 23 (2x4s) trying desperately to snatch victory fromthe jaws of  defeat for their team. Proprietor and managing director of Trophy Stall Ramesh Sunich chipped in with 18.

Petamber Persaud (3-25) and Ramchand Ragbeer (3-28) did the damage to Trophy Stall’s XI batting line up with the ball.

Trophies donated by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and City Mall were presented to Deonarine who was adjudged Man of the Match. Also receiving trophies were Deryck Ramoutar (Best Batsman Winning Team), Ramchand Ragbeer (Best Bowler Winning Team), Surendra Nauth (Best Fielder Winning Team) and Kamal Seebarran for the Best Catch of the Match.

On the losing side, Sukhoo (Best Batsman), Fidel Singh (Best Bowler), Ricky Persaud (Best Catch) and Reaz Hussein (Best Fielder) all received trophies.

Floodlights XI also carted off the winner’s trophy. A rematch is on the cards in the not too distant future.
