Police still mum on man forced into car at gunpoint

The Saturday afternoon King Street drama in which a man was forced into a vehicle by two armed men after chasing him has not been clarified by police but Crime Chief Seelall Persaud has confirmed that the police have no knowledge of any kidnapping.

This newspaper had spoken to a number of eyewitnesses on King Street minutes after the occurrence who had also pointed to a burgundy AT 192 Carina with number plate PKK 9308 and said that the man had been about to leave in the car when he jumped back and ran as he noticed the men coming towards him.

Eyewitnesses had also told this newspaper that the men had handguns and chased after the man who they eventually caught in a Regent Street store.

Up to yesterday there was no clarification from the police on the matter, but Persaud said he had no knowledge of any kidnapping.

The crime chief further told this newspaper that the police were not investigating any kidnapping.

On the day of the incident ranks of the force’s Criminal Investigation Department were on the scene and later that day this newspaper was still not able to elicit any details from the police.
