In a report in your edition of February 9, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee reported on the results of the investigation as to why the police took over an hour to respond to the first call to the police station during the Lusignan massacre. Mr Rohee announced that the call was received by a senior officer who failed to take action. He went on to say there will be changes made at some of the stations on the East Coast.
What I find puzzling is that there was no reason given why the “senior officer” did not respond to the call. Mr Rohee should disclose what reason was given by the officer for not doing so. Maybe then we can begin to pinpoint why this is such a recurring problem. Mr Rohee owes the public an answer to this question.
