Preliminary round for NCN 2nd Div league nearing completion

The Linden Basketball Association’s (LABA) NCN 2nd Division League is about to wrap up its preliminary round with just a few remaining games to be played.

So far Victory Valley Royals and the Patriots are at the top of the board with 21 points apiece as each has won nine games. However, Patriots have conceded only two losses and have one game remaining while V.V. Royals have lost three and have finished their allotted 12 games.

Also in contention is Allyene’s Raiders who have amassed 20 points from nine victories from 11 games and two losses.

Wismar Pistons, Glands Trucking Service (GTS) Bulls and New Ballers are separated by just one point in the league’s standing, recording 19 points, 18 points and 17 points respectively. Pistons have won eight games and Bulls have won seven while the Jets have six in the win column.

The much-liked Kashif and Shanghai Kings have a lot of ground to make up if they hope to make an appearance in the semifinal round of the competition.

King’s are four spots out of the final four and they would have to win all of their remaining three games to force Pistons out of their qualifying spot.

King’s fans will have to keep their fingers crossed as they have to face three teams that are ranked higher than them – Patriots, Bulls, and Pistons – for their final three games.

The LABA advises the various clubs that there will be a general members’ meeting on Sunday, February 17 beginning at 3pm at the LEAP Macaw Boardroom building on Republic Avenue.

The LABA also asked that all clubs must honour their financial obligation (annual affiliation and players’ registration at this meeting) and present the association with their list of executives for 2008 and their club’s constitution which was due since last year at that meeting.
