Processing of applications for new passports to resume today

The Immigration and Passport Office will today resume processing applications for new passports after encountering a hitch on Friday.

In a release on Saturday, the police said the office was unable to process requests for new documents on Friday because of a problem in the system. However other transactions such as renewal and the delivery of travel documents proceeded as normal.

The Friday problem has since been rectified, the release said, and acceptance of applications for passports will resume today.

The passport office regrets any inconvenience caused.
