Patentia Secondary celebrates top CSEC scores at graduation

Patentia Secondary School celebrated success in the last Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams at its Ninth Annual Graduation and Prize giving Ceremony held on Thursday.

According to the Region Three Administration Amanda Lee was judged the top student with nine passes at CSEC including two grade ones and five grade twos. Verendra Jailall grabbed the second spot with nine passes including four grade twos and four grade threes. The Region said 74 students were successful at the exams.

In his address to the packed auditorium Regional Chairman Julius Faerber charged parents to discharge their moral responsibility to their children. “Parents are the first and foremost educators of children,” he said. Faerber also said based on the head teacher’s report the school maintained a Parent/ Teachers Association which was very active. He lauded both groups for maintaining this partnership and urged them to pursue similar relations with all stakeholders in the education sector.

The chairman then congratulated the teachers on their performance which the report held in high esteem. He urged them to continue to give their best efforts as they are responsible for their students’ futures.

Faerber then commended the students for their performance then quickly pointed out that their “academic success at this juncture is only the beginning of [their] lifelong dreams.” He told them that on entering the workforce they will face more exciting challenges and in order to equip themselves to face them they must “guard against bad influences”.
