Murder suspect Odinga Greene, who was recently handed over to law enforcement here by Suriname police, made an appearance in the Christianburg Magis-trate’s Court last week and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys.
He was charged with the murder of Nazalene Mohammed. Mohammed’s partly decomposed body was discovered in a coal pit at the back of the Wisroc Housing Scheme in Linden.
On February 13 last year the gruesome discovery was made and at that time the remains were unidentified.
Relatives later identified the remains as that of 20-year-old Mohamed who had been missing for three weeks. Reports are that the East Ruimveldt resident left her home in the company of two friends – a male and a female who were known to the family.
The police had issued a wanted bulletin for Greene in relation to this killing.
Greene, who was previously charged, convicted and later freed of the murder of Sandra Harvey at Wisroc, Linden two years ago, is wanted by police in connection with two murders in the Linden community. Police had been looking for Greene for sometime now though it was rumoured he was in Suriname.
The authorities there handed him over two weeks ago. He will reappear in court on April 26.
