Chattergoon narrowly misses ton as match ends in stalemate

The left-hander who missed the first test of the Digicel Home series against Sri Lanka through a viral illness and who is tipped to make his test debut in the second test starting tomorrow at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, was leg before wicket to Mervyn Matthew for 98 as Guyana, batting a second time reached 250-5 when play was called off.

Chattergoon and fellow left-hander, former West Indies Under-19 skipper Leon Johnson added 183 runs for the second wicket with Johnson also falling to Matthew for a well-played 80.

Chattergoon, who batted for two and a half hours, faced 169 balls and struck seven fours while Johnson batted for 231 minutes, faced 184 balls and struck four fours.

Guyana were dismissed for 396 in their first innings with skipper Travis Dowlin making 176 not out. That knock was enough to earn him the man of the match award. The Windwards in reply, made 467 for a first innings lead of 71. (KB)
