Ignition to bring back ‘sing like the stars’ contest

Trying to stay a step above the rest, the company behind the upcoming Ignition Concert, Wildfire Productions, says adequate security including sniffer dogs will be provided and as such, party fans need not worry about their safety or vehicles.

The company continues to maintain that this concert, which will feature three international entertainers – Bounty Killer, QQ and Wayne Wonder — is going to be hot.

Fans will be treated to the usual pre-show hype ranging from live call in radio and TV programmes to a ‘sing like the stars’ competition, which was introduced to the local entertainment scene, during the lead up to the Inferno concert last November.

No firearms will be allowed and parking will be done at the Maltenos Sports Club Ground which is opposite the National Park on Thomas Lands. There will be adequate lighting, security guards and there will even be dogs on the perimeter of the car park as well as in the National Park.
Head of Wildfire, Jonathan Beepat said recently, “As we have seen the first concert for the year was a bit lacklustre and we are promising to pull out all the stops to ensure people are ready to Ignite on April 19”.

Beepat told The Scene that it was because of the great success they had with the last concert that they are even more determined to put things in place to ensure that fans enjoy the concert. He expressed his confidence that their promotional programme will be fully supported.

“Our lineup of artists has been carefully selected to provide an excellent night of entertainment. We decided to mix the old with the new in dancehall acts. While there are many new artists out there, we chose two veterans in the business who are still leaders in their genres, and one new artist who is the youngest in the business,” he said.

Beepat and his partners at Wildfire are confident that the three will put on a good show and the old school dancehall tunes will be the favourite.

Bounty Killer is known for tunes such as: “Dem Leave the World in a Suspense”, “Gyal Dem Have di Face, Dem Have di Figure”, Remind me of di Benz, di Lexus and di Bimma”, and “Excuse Pass mi Cellular Phone”. Wayne Wonder’s soft lover’s rock includes such tunes as “You Got to Live and Learn”, “Saddest Day of my Life”, “Excess Amount of Loving” (on the pepperseed riddim), “Bashment Girl” (on the Joyride rididm), and many others will be promoted and publicised until the day of the concert.

Thirteen-year-old QQ, who is new, has been mashing up the music scene with his current hits especially his girls anthem “Stookie” and new dancehall move “Rume Ram” (Tek we a go tek it to dem). His novelty dances have captivated audiences the world over.
Several companies have made pledges towards the show while others have voiced an interest.

Ansa Mcal through Carib Beer, F&H Printing, Caribbean Airlines, White Castle Fish Shop and Facts N Roses are some of the companies already on board.
