Guyanese Women in Development (Guywid) said it is inspiring to see two women from humble backgrounds attain prestigious posts in its congratulatory message to ministers Carolyn Rodrigues and Pauline Sukhai on their new roles at the foreign affairs and Amerindian affairs offices.
In a press release Guywid said Rodrigues and Sukhai’s accomplishments add to those of several other women who have been recognised as equal partners in the development process.
Just a few decades ago Guyanese women, led by “the indomitable Janet Jagan, fought for and won the right to vote and to be elected,” the release said.
