Malteenoes and GDF square off in second division final

By Calvin Roberts
Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will clash in the final of the Cummings Electrical/Raymond Panday Memorial sponsored Georgetown Cricket Association second division final at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground from today.

By virtue of topping their zones, both teams have earned the right to contest the final which will be played over three days and GDF will be looking to continue their fine run in the competition.
To this effect, much will depend on their captain Clinton Collins who along with Sherwin Mc Almont, Keith Fraser, Terry Fraser and Vijal Singh can pose a big threat to the Thomas Lands bowlers. The Army boys’ bowling are also in the capable hands of Collins who bowls left arm chinaman, player/coach former national player Roderick Lovell, Terry Fraser, Travis Johnson and Deon Bentham.

MSC on the other hand will be hoping that their leading run scorer in this competition, Delvon Mc Ewan, continues his fine form as he is coming off the back of a century from his last outing in same. Add the dependable Randy Lindore, national under -15 wicketkeeper Safraz Esau, Danny Narayan and their captain Howard Chance and the Army boys will definitely have a battle on their hands.

Their bowling is in the hands of Chance, Under-19 fast bowler Seon Daniels and Lindore just to name a few.

The game will get underway from 1200hrs, and the GCA is asking both teams to be there for 1130hrs to meet with the sponsors prior to the start of the game.
