Police arrested four persons at Essequibo on Wednesday following a raid that unearthed arms and ammunition.
The police, acting on a tip, swooped down on three premises at Lanaballi and Stampa Bay, Essequibo River and made the discovery, according to a press release from the Police Public Relations Department.
During the operation, which was carried out between 5 pm and 8 pm, three unlicensed .38 revolvers and two shotguns were seized along with 151 12-gauge cartridges, ten 20-gauge cartridges, five .32 rounds and 62 .38 rounds of ammunition.
The four persons in custody are assisting with investigations.
