Woman charged with forging late magistrate’s signature

Magistrate Fazil Azeez granted $150,000 bail to a Mahaica woman accused of forging the signature of the late Magistrate Oscar Parvatan to show that he had sold a minibus.

Kamladai Bissoon, 44, of 29 De Hoop Mahaica, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to four charges of forgery when she appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

It is alleged that Bissoon, with intent to defraud Mohini Parvatan of minibus number BKK 1602 on December 7, 2006, forged the signature of Oscar Parvatan on an agreement of sale to show that he had sold the said bus.  On September 28, also at Leonora, Bissoon forged the signature of Oscar Parvatan on a receipt to show that he had borrowed $1 million to purchase the said bus.
Further, on March 25, 2008, it is said that Bissoon uttered a forged document at Leonora, West Coast Demerara to Detective Sergeant 14523 to show that Oscar Parvatan had made and signed an agreement of sale knowing the same to be forged. It is also alleged, on the said date, that Bissoon uttered a forged receipt to the said detective purporting to show that it was signed by Oscar Parvatan.
Bissoon was ordered to appear at court on May 22.
