A destructive spell of leg spin bowling from Berbice under-15 leg spinner Shawn Pereira  enabled Corentyne Compre-hensive High School (CCHS) to inflict a 7 wicket victory over Canje Secondary when the two met in the final of the inaugural Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club organized Kool Kidz Twenty20 tournament sponsored by the Guyana Beverage Company.

Veerapen Permaul, captain of Corentyne Comprehensive High School (CCHS) receives the Kool Kidz first place trophy from Guyana Beverages Company Berbice sales manager Eon Smithet. At right is the manager of CCHS Karl Vanier.Perreira took 4-2 from three overs as Canje Secondary who chose to bat first after winning the toss, were bowled out for 62 from 13 overs to which Corentyne Comprehensive replied with 64-3 after receiving a flying start from their openers.
It was Perreira who stole the spotlight with his vast control during his spell.

Canje Secondary found themselves in early trouble when their opener Steve Mohammed was bowled by fast bowler Andrew Rasainan without scoring.
Were it not for the efforts of opener Jermaine John who made 30 with four fours, they would not have reached so far as their batsmen had no answer to the guile of Perreira who received amicable support from off spinner Andy Ramsarran (3-10) and Rasainan 2-28.

CCHS in reply got of to a thunderous start with Kelvin James and Veerapen Permaul going after the bowling in posting 19 runs from the first two overs.

However, when Permaul was removed by off spinner Herman Gilean for 7 and James was bowled by J. Sooknanan for 20 they were 26-2 in the 4th over.

Although Gilean removed Gangagoo Narinedat for 16 (2×4) at 46-3, the result was a sure formality for CCHS as their fourth wicket pair of Andy Mohan (12*) and Ramsarran (15*) saw their team to a comfortable victory.

For their efforts, CCHS received over $170,000.00 in prizes including a 21” television set, cricket gear and 15 educational kits whilst Canje Secondary received $70,000.00 worth of prizes. Pereira received a cricket bat for his man of the match efforts and a pair of batting pads for being adjudged the best bowler of the competition after claiming 12 wickets.
