Three new schools will be built in the Mabaruma sub-region in Region One (Barima/Waini) to cater to the growing school population in the hinterland.
According to a memorandum from the Regional Information Officer the projects were recently awarded by the Regional Procurement and Tender Administration Board. Schools will be built at Koberimo, Mabaruma; Black Water – Savannah along the Barima River and at Kachiksmo along the Waini River.
The Waramuri Nursery School in Moruca will also be extended and the teachers’ quarters at Port Kaituma rehabilitated. Additionally, teachers’ quarters will be built at Mabaruma.
Meanwhile, the upgrading and maintenance of the main road link between Hosororo and Wanaina has been completed. Also, three miles of road has been upgraded moving towards Wauna Settlement.
