PPP empathises with China, Myanmar on natural disasters

The People’s Progressive Party extends sympathy to the governments and peoples of China and Myanmar who have lost relatives and are suffering from the effects of two devastating natural disasters.

In a press release, the party said the tragedies “have once again reminded us of how vulnerable we all are in the face of such terrible disasters.”
A 7.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Eastern Sichuan China on Monday while a cyclone with winds up to 120mph hit the low-lying, densely populated Irrawaddy delta in central Myanmar on May 3. The PPP said though the world has always witnessed terrible destruction caused by natural disasters it is also true that in recent years the frequency of such disasters have increased greatly. The party said that in memory of those who perished in the disasters persons should do their best to avoid contributing to the degradation of the environment.  At the same time the party commends the Chinese government’s response to the bring relief to its citizens while it urges the Myanmar government to accept international assistance to ease the suffering of its people.
