Untouchables ‘touched up’

Ariel XI created a major upset when they defeated Untouchables XI of Berbice by four wickets in a thrilling encounter that went down to the last ball when action in the Banks DIH-sponsored Guyana Softball Association, 15-overs-a-side competition continued on Sunday.

Untouchables took first strike in wet conditions and made 130-3 from their 15 overs with Vicky Veerasammy making an unbeaten 63 and David Looknauth 20.

Dharam Persaud took 1-16 from three overs bowling for Ariel XI who needed one run to win off the final delivery.

Sadeek Gittens with an unbeaten 33 duly smashed the final delivery for six as Ariel XI ended on 136-6. 
Ejaz Mohammed made 31 while Roy Jafferally took 4-19 bowling for Untouchables XI.
Untouchables XI in their second match destroyed the Destroyers XI by 125 runs.
Untouchables won the toss, batted first and scored 172-3 in 15 overs.

 Jafferally top-scored with 83 not-out while Roy Samad supported with 28.
Ramnarine Sawh took 1-24 from three overs.
Destroyers XI in reply were bundled out for 47 in 8.4 overs with Sawh top scoring with 22.
Troy Kippins bagged 4-14 from three overs and Vivian Da Silva 3-0 from 2.5 overs.
Untouchables returned later to thrash Silver Belt XI by 148 runs.
They won the toss and bated amassing 192-6 in 15 overs.
 Jafferally scored 62 and retired hurt with seven sixes while Zaheer Malchan contributed 40.
 Ramraj picked up 2-25.
In their turn Silver Belt XI succumbed for 44 in 9.1 overs.

Good Fortuin defeated FirecrewXI by four wickets
Good Fortuin batted first scoring 132-7 in 15 overs. Rajendra Kurst scored 40 and Marvin Smith 27.
 Persaud picked up 2-26.
Firecrew XI in reply, were bundled out for 73 in 10 overs. Greg Singh scalped 3-8.
Rangers XI defeated Rapid Fire XI by 67 runs:
Rangers XI batted first scoring 218 all-out in 15 overs.
Ameer Nizamuddeen and Safraz Karim each contributed 45.
Zaman Ali bagged 3-45 and Hakeem Khan 2-32.
Rapid Fire in reply, made a spirited 151-4 in 15 overs.
Zackir Ali too scored 45 and Hakeem Khan 22.
Doodnauth Singh 2-25 and Safraz Karim 1-10 were the wicket-takers.
Rocky XI defeated Leonora Youths XI by 100 runs:
Rocky XI batted first scoring 158 all-out in 15 overs. Azad Azeez and Ravi Jainarine each contributed 39.
Imtiaz Hack with 4-15 from three overs did the damage with the ball for Leonora Youths who, in reply, were bundled out for 58 in 13.5 overs.
Demerara Under-19 batsman Balbinder Persaud took 3-19 from three overs.

Leonora Youths in their second Match defeated Hyde Park XI by 15 runs:
Leonora Youths batted first and scored 111 all out in 14.4 overs. Imtiaz Hack scored 31.
Leon Spires picked up 2-14 from three overs and then returned to hit 53 as Hyde Park made 96 all out in 10.4 overs. Jeenarine Persaud took 5-8 from three overs.
Hyde Park in their second match defeated Skyline XI by 73 runs:
Hyde Park XI batted first and scored 156-9 in 15 overs. Brian Herbert made 39 as Bishma Tiwari took 3-24 from three overs for Skyline XI who then made 83 all out in 11.3 overs. Tiwari returned to topscore with 35 as Spires took 4-16 from three overs.
