Gas pumps being checked after short delivery complaints

The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) says it is investigating complaints about short delivery of petrol at gas pumps and persons who have broken its security seal would be prosecuted.

In a press release GNBS Executive Director Dr Chatterpaul Ramcharran said vehicle owners had complained about short delivery from pumps in the city and along the East Coast and East Bank.

The GNBS has completed the first round of calibrations of petrol pumps for the first half of the year countrywide. “The pumps are supposed to operate accurately within the tolerance limits,” the release said. The GNBS said too its inspectors would be conducting investigations and pumps found with broken security seals will be closed and their operators prosecuted.
