DDL renews Pepsi Sonics gear

The Demerara Distillers Ltd yesterday renewed its sponsorship of the Pepsi Sonics Basketball Club when the beverage company donated $398,040 specifically for the club’s new uniforms for their senior and junior male and female teams.

The cheque was presented yesterday at DDL’s Kingston Office by Assistant Marketing Manager of DDL Alana Johnson to a lineup of the club’s executive along with a few active players.

“This year we are contributing a substantial amount of money to cover uniforms for the various teams which compete under the Pepsi Sonics banner – first and third divisions, the female and junior teams.” According to the statement, “DDL and Pepsi saw that Pepsi Sonics are truly supporting the development of youngsters and providing a healthy outlet for the energies of our youths. This is also evident through the basketball camps that they host for youths of all ages. So, we believe that they are quite deserving of the new uniforms.”

Club Treasurer Holisworth Casey said yesterday that the club enjoyed a very successful partnership with DDL in the past and he is grateful at this time that his club has received new uniforms.

He also said that this gesture not only affirms the commitment of DDL but motivates the players to continue to strive to be on top.
