Two refused bail on armed robbery, firing gun charges

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton placed two men on remand when they appeared before her yesterday on separate charges of robbery under arms and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Mark Isaacs, 37, of 168 Thomas Street, Kitty, was charged with robbing Omesh Sookram of one electric iron, a chainsaw and a number of other items at a total value of $423,200. He was also charged with robbing Nandranie Bookie on July 4, of one gold chain while being armed with a cutlass.

Meanwhile Gromyko Gomes called ‘Bony’ was charged with the unlawful discharge of a firearm. It is alleged that on February 13, with intent to resist arrest Gomes discharged a loaded firearm at Police Constable 18585 Odel Fraser.

Isaacs returns to court on July 30, while Gomes returns on October 27.
