North Ruimveldt man found dead in home

The decomposed body of a North Ruimveldt man was yesterday morning discovered in his home after neighbours were alerted by a foul odour emanating from the house.

Dead is Lesley Allen, 54, a self-employed refrigeration technician. Police in a statement yesterday said no marks of violence were seen on the body.
Speaking with this newspaper last evening the man’s son Troy Allen said he heard the news from a cousin. Allen said he last saw his father on Tuesday last and the man did not appear ill. However, he said, his father had complained of diabetes and hypertension complications.
He said his father visited his Laing Avenue residence from time to time and was a well-known and jovial person who was always in a good mood.

Allen leaves 11 children and many grandchildren to mourn his passing. The police statement last evening said a post-mortem examination would be conducted on the body shortly.
