Olympics for WRHM

Television coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games in China will be provided locally by WRHM Channel Seven, which has obtained exclusive rights from the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) and American broadcaster, NBC to televise the games in Guyana.

Coverage will begin with the broadcasting of the Opening ceremony at 7:30 pm today and will run for the duration of the mega-event.

Marketing Supervisor at WRHM, Nicola Jeffrey explained that CMC obtained the exclusive rights to broadcast the games within the Caribbean from NBC. Channel Seven has purchased the rights from CMC to broadcast the games in Guyana and no other television channel has been authorized to do so for the duration of the event.

Jeffrey said that feeds from both CMC and NBC will be carried, as CMC will be focusing on Caribbean athletes.
