This newspaper was told by eyewitnesses on the scene that the men were riding a silver grey scooter and were hit by the bus which was proceeding east and was surprised by the bike coming up the one way.

It was when they were hit the men apparently realized that they were being trailed by the lawmen who immediately tried to capture them. In an escape bid, one of the men headed in the direction of North Road.

However an eyewitness said he had no idea that the men were being trailed and he ran to the assistance of the injured man and helped place him in the police vehicle. A few policemen ran in search of the other man and eventually apprehended them.
