CLICO (Guyana) Ltd yesterday donated $4M towards the fireworks display at Carifesta.
The cheque was handed over by company representative Sharon Melville to Dr. Frank Anthony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport at a press briefing held at the Carifesta Secretariat.
The money is expected to fund the fireworks display at both the opening and closing ceremonies to be held at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence.
Clico’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Venita Bovell said that the government had approached the company regarding sponsorship of the fireworks segment, and that it had readily complied. She said that the company was pleased to be associated with Carifesta X. She stated that the company will be working closely with the GDF, who will be responsible for the fireworks on both nights.
Dr. Anthony expressed gratitude to CLICO on behalf of the Government of Guyana and the Carifesta Secretariat. He said that all those who are present can “expect a good spectacle”.
CLICO (Guyana) has been sponsoring the firework display at Guyana’s Indepen-dence Day celebrations held at the National Park for the last five years.
