Fasting establishes the supremacy of our spirit – PM

“In fasting we demonstrate and establish the supremacy of our spirit over bodily needs and material comfort,” Prime Minister Samuel Hinds said in his message to the nation on the occasion of Eid–ul-Fitr.
In extending Eid Mubarak greetings, the Prime Minister said that “we should emerge from fasting so much stronger as to endure necessary sacrifices.” He said that there should be ready understanding of sacrifices and “staying on” to face these sacrifices in order to contribute to making a better life.
He commended all those who made the sacrifice to fast throughout the month of Ramadan and wished that they be rewarded for their faith and commitment.

The statement also said that it is hoped that this Eid-ul-Fitr serves to strengthen the resolve of Guyanese “to spare no sacrifice in building a peaceful and prosperous Guyana.”
