Queen of Sheba takes crown in biblical pageant

The Queen of Sheba was adjudged the winner when the Mothers’ Union held a Biblical Pageant at the St Gabriel’s Church Hall at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice.

Shirley Lewis of St Gabriel’s Church, who portrayed the Queen of Sheba was closely followed by Claudette Ralph in the first runner-up position. Ralph of St Michael’s church depicted the character Queen Esther.

Copping the second, third and fourth runner-up spots respectively were Pamela Hutson of St Alban’s who played Queen Bathsheba, Claudia Harris of St Peter who went as Queen Vashti and Patricia Mitchell of St Jude who appeared as Queen Micah.

The women made their first appearance on stage in evening gowns.
They then reappeared in their biblical outfits and had to give an explanation of what the queen they represented did during her lifetime.

Finally, before the winner was announced each contestant was required to answer a question pertaining to the Mother’s Union.
