Mahaicony man stable in hospital after stabbing

A 33-year-old Mahaicony man who sustained two stab wounds during an incident at Mahaicony Central around 7:30  Sunday evening is said to be in a stable condition in the open ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Hilton Nedd, called ‘Monkey man’, of Farm, Mahaicony had just left a horse racing event at  Zeskenderen ground when the incident occurred. His friend ‘Tony’ told Stabroek News that they had encountered some problems with a group of men they knew inside  the ground and so they decided to leave.

He said that they walked down to the junction at the market and he was going to get his bicycle when he heard someone shout his name. When he turned around he saw a tall man holding onto Nedd and  then the man released him but as he was about to fall ‘Tony’ said he held his friend up before taking off his jersey and trying to stem his bleeding from stab wounds.
They then took Nedd to the Mahaicony Hospital and he was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital. Tony related that there was no ambulance to transport  Nedd so they hired a taxi.

Meanwhile the injured man’s aunt told this newspaper that her nephew was on the road at the time of the incident and he alerted the family.

The woman expressed her surprise at the incident since according to her Nedd was never involved in anything of the sort before.
When Nedd was wheeled into the Emergency Room he was overheard muttering, ”Me nah do them nothing and seven a them hold onto me.”
